Sense and Sensibility: Lucid, modern-day look at Jane Austen's novel in reference to 2 recently impoverished siblings one impulsive and flirtatious, the other persistently hindered and made to suppress her sensations of love. Impeccably cast and acted, a vigorous and moving film dealing with how dissimilar identities handled them in early 19th-century England. Thompson won an Oscar for Best Screenplay Adaptation. The Red Violin: Multi-episode film follows the destiny of a hexed violin from 17th-century Italy to 18th century Vienna, 19th century England, 20th-century China and present day Montreal. The tales are mainly downbeat and or aggravating, and the finish up part with appraiser Jackson is difficult to swallow. Colorful locales and enthralling premises sustain limited interest all the way through. Cast includes Carlo Cecchi, Irene Grazioli, Jean-Luc Bideau, Jason Flemyng, Greta Scacchi, Sylvia Chang, Samuel L. Jackson, Colm Feore, Monique Mercure, Don McKellar, and Sandra Oh. (131 minutes, 1998)

Lawrence of Arabia: Blockbuster biography of enigmatic adventurer T. E. Lawrence is that rarity, an epic film that is additionally proficient. It loses some steam in the second half, however stilI a knockout, particularly in 1989 reissue rendition, which repaired numerous cuts made over the years. Cast includes Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Claude Pours, Anthony Quayle, Arthur Kennedy, Omar Sharif, and Jose Ferrer. (216 minutes, 1962)

Belle of the Yukon: Little musical of bar owner Scott going straight at request of his gal (Lee). The film is fast paced but very forgettable. Cast includes Randolph -Scott, Gypsy Rose Lee, Bob Burns, Dinah Beach, Charles Winninger, William Marshall, Guinn "Gigantic - Boy" Williams, and Robert Armstrong, (84 minutes, 1944)

Tracks: Hopper chaperones lifeless Vietnam friend across the nation by train, but eventuafiy goes bonkers. Cast includes Dennis Hopper, Taryn Power, Dean Stockwell, Topa Swope, Michael Emil, and Zack Norman. (90 minutes, 1976)

Night Nurse: Phenomenal, hard story of nurse (Stanwyck) who couldn't disregard bizarre goings on in home where she works. Blondell adds zingy aid and it is one of Gable's most impressive early appearances. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Ben Lyon, Joan Blondell, Clark Gable, Charlotte Merriam, and Charles Winninger.

The Big Road: This movie is about a shy busboy who commits himself to a selfish nightclub singer. The film is abnormal (and oddly watchable), with extremely unorthodox roles for both Fonda and Ball. Cast includes Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball, Barton Mafamilye, Eugene Pallette, Agnes Moorehead, Sam Levene, Ray Collins, Hans Conried, and Ozzie Nelson. (88 minutes, 1942)

Solarbabies: Futuristic adolescent rubbish has Gertz and a bunch of her friends are trapped by a Nazi-like group inside a fortress. The group plans to get out with the help of "Bohdi", an old mystical force. Cast includes Richard Jordan, Jami Gertz, Jason Patric, Lukas Haas, Charles Durning, Peter DeLuise, Adrian Pasdar, Sarah Douglas, Frank Talk, Terrence Mann, and Kelly Bishop. (194 minutes, 1986)

Reckless: It's Christmas Eve, and a ditsy, seemingly cheerful spouse (Farrow) is informed by her abruptly regretful spouse that he has taken out a contract on her life. A conceivably smart spoof of middle-style domestic relationships and fake holiday praise swiftly descends into a roaming, completely absurd comedy of the ridiculous. Cast includes Mia Farrow, Scott Glenn, Mary-Louise Parker, Tony Goldwyn, Stephen Dorff, Eileen Brennan, and Giancarlo Esposito. (92 minutes, 1995)
